Introduction
In the Mátra Hill winegrowing region, about 80 kilometres from Budapest, works the Ludányi family in Gyöngyöstarján. The family has been making wine for generations. András Ludányi is an engineer and a wine-grower. He has been making wine and working in his wineyard since the '80s. He has gradually built and developed his private little winery. At the moment he owns 6 hectare of vineyard, but for its yield he buys grapes from local grape-growers, from selected territories. He mostly buys Italian Riesling, Riesling Silvaner, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Tramini, Muscat Ottonel, Blue Frankish and Cabernet types. He wants to maintain his production's quality and quantity because he belives that with consistent work combined with the region's traditions and conditions will lead him to market succession.
Winery
The forked winery's storage capacity is nearly 600 hl. He uses wooden, steal and plastic barrels. He makes his white wines with controlled cooling fermentation, that way the region's and the grape's rich fragrance and bouquet succeds in his wines with full pageantry. Both the traditional and modern technology can be found in his winemaking. His grape processing and winemaking is characteristically quick, humane and of high standard. He sells his wine mainly for pubs in Budapest and its suburbs in can and bottled strippings.
The labels on his bottles are his own designs, neat and elegant.
Wine tasting
Close to the village's centre his winery is open to visitors where they could see in real milieu where he makes his wine and the chosen types. At the fall of 2004 above his winery he opened a wine tasting room which is able to hold up to 40 people company meetings and smaller outings.
The visitors can enjoy and taste his wines served with traditional hungarian dishes and wine jelly in intimate sorroundings. After winetasting visitors are able to buy the tested wines. We offer bottled and unbottled wine as well.
